Venus Unwrapped: A Faster Pulse
A force of nature, Polish composer Grażyna Bacewicz wrote seven violin concertos, eight quartets and four symphonies. ‘I run, not walk,’ she said. ‘I speak fast, even my pulse beats faster than normal.’
Written on the eve of the 20th century, Schoenberg’s ultra-Romantic Transfigured Night uses the shimmering tones of a string orchestra to conjure a moonlit setting for a tale of emotional transformation.

Rush Hour #9: Tuscan
If you can't make it to the Anghiari Festival for a week of orchestral, chamber and choral gems this summer, fear not: In the last Rush Hour before the summer holiday, we're bringing a hint of Tuscany to Waterloo.
Amidst the winding streets and charming piazzas of historic Anghiari, Southbank Sinfonia brings a selection of symphonic, chamber and choral music to be enjoyed under the Tuscan sky and in beautifully ornate churches.
