British cellist Sarah Gait and American pianist Anna Han join to present a recital in aid of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.


Brahms’ passionate and moving E Minor Cello Sonata is accompanied by a selection of music from Ukrainian composers, including the Elegy from Mykola Lysenko, the ‘founding father’ of Ukrainian classical music and Kyiv-born Reinhold Glière’s charming ‘Album Leaf’ miniatures. Also featured is a live cello improvisation on traditional Ukrainian themes, so come prepared to suggest your favourite Ukrainian songs!

Sarah Gait has performed as soloist live on BBC Radio 3 and is winner of awards from the Royal Philharmonic Society, ISA Digital Creative Award, Vienna 2020, and the BBC Proms Young Composer Competition. Her concerto for improvising solo cellist was premiered with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra in 2019.


Winner of the Juilliard Gina Bachauer and New York International Piano Competitions, Anna Han is an alumna of Yellow Barn, Kneisel Hall Chamber Music School, and IMS Prussia Cove. She has performed chamber concerts with Itzhak Perlman, Ida Kavafian, John Myerscough and the Verona Quartet, and more than sixty solo concerts worldwide.
