Rush Hour Concert and Livestream #5: Musical Postcards
WA Mozart Symphony No.38 'Prague'
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Souvenir de Florence
Ruth Rogers violin

Join us as we travel through music inspired by Prague and Florence.

Mozart composed his 'Prague' Symphony just before he went and visited Prague, where he had many fans of his music after Le nozze di Figaro was premiered. It was the first symphony composed by Mozart for over three years, and by this point his style had changed and elevated significantly. Lavish woodwind and sumptuous string writing makes Symphony No.38 a triumphant return to the symphonic form for Mozart.

Tchaikovsky's Souvenir de Florence was composed in 1886 and was named after the place where the principal themes were written. Originally for string sextet, Souvenir de Florence has since been arranged for string orchestra, which is what our fellowship will be performing in this concert. Both of the pieces tonight will take you around the sounds of Europe, creating your very own unique musical postcard.

We welcome Ruth Rogers from the London Mozart Players to lead this concert.
