Aaron Copland Appalachian Spring
Ludwig van Beethoven Symphony No.6 'Pastoral'
A dawn chorus of birds, babbling brooks, lively country dances, and an ominous thunderstorm.

Beethoven’s idyllic Pastoral Symphony paints a vivid picture of the Viennese countryside that the composer longed to escape to. Optimism and hope fill this work, inviting us to journey through the glorious natural landscape.

But first, Aaron Copland’s ballet score, Appalachian Spring, weaves fleeting and animated dances with musical evocations of America’s vast landscapes. Featuring the beloved Simple Gifts theme, this work represents a sense of hope and spirit.
