ROYAL OPERA HOUSE

Music for opera and ballet

Orchestras are chameleons, changing guise from one context to the next. Performing for opera and dance requires strikingly different skills from concerts, so who better to learn from than the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House?

In workshops backstage at Covent Garden, they play alongside Southbank Sinfonia and provide invaluable coaching and mock auditions. Our players also regularly share the limelight with the Royal Opera’s sensational Jette Parker Young Artists and the Royal Ballet’s rising stars, in performances at the Linbury Theatre and recently Wilton’s Music Hall.

Our evergreen association continually presents new opportunities, from creating a digital opera with children to powering topical events like Verdi vs. Wagner with Sir John Tomlinson and Stephen Fry.
