I inherited my love for music from my grandfather who was a carpenter with a huge passion for Italian opera and an enthusiastic amateur musician. Since then many members of my family got into music and a few of us choose to make music for a living. I still remember the moment I first heard the sound of a double bass in a concert and a few months after that, I was admitted to the conservatoire for studying this big beautiful instrument.
Being a bassist I had the opportunity to play in the conservatoire’s orchestra from almost the very beginning. While rehearsing with them, I understood that music would have been a big part of my life in the years to come.
Moving to Trieste, to complete my music studies and to study physics at uni, gave me the chance to broaden my horizons as a musician and as a person.
During those years I had my first experiences playing with professionals touring in China and Canada with Accademia Musicale Pescarese, playing with Orchestra Cherubini, and other orchestras of Trieste’s area like Orchestra dell’Opera Giocosa with whom I also had the chance to play Bottesini’s bass concerto and Rossini’s Una Larme as a soloist.
In 2015 I moved to London to study at Trinity Laban with Chris West and Leon Bosh. This has been a fantastic experience and also the ultimate challenge where I had to question all my certainties about music and life.
In this period I became particularly interested in chamber music and I used the chance of being at Trinity to explore it as much as I could in formations that go from piano and bass, bass, piano and voice, bass quartet, string quintet, piano quintet and more. With most of those musicians this collaboration still continues. While at Trinity I also got selected for the orchestral scheme with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
I am also completing my training as a Shiatsu therapist. My aim is to bring my experience as a musician into this discipline in order to prevent and heal the problematics related to the music and arts profession. I am so amazed about how much music and Shiatsu are related and how I can feel more and more its influence in my way of being a musician.
When I am free I really like doing sports. I am pretty good at volleyball and really bad at football (but I still love it). I also like learning new things; for me to explore new fields, also completely unrelated with music, is an absolute necessity.

Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us.
I am into lucid dreaming, which is that state where you are conscious while dreaming. It is quite a thing to be able to interact directly with your subconscious and often it brings you to realise some unexpected things!
Where’s your favourite place to listen to music and why?
I really like the Royal Festival Hall. When I am in that music hall its architecture puts me in a dreamlike state and it brings the music experience to the next level.
How would you persuade someone who has never heard ‘classical music’ before to come with you to a concert?
First of all, before inviting him/her, I would carefully choose the repertoire. I would go for some programme music and I would explain how the composer transforms into music that particular topic giving him/her something to grasp on when they are listening to the piece.
