Maria Fiore, born in 1988, completed her bachelor’s degree from G. Tartini Conservatoire in Trieste. At the age of 20, she moved to London to study at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance where in 2012, under the guidance of Prof. Matthew Trusler, she was awarded a Master in Perfomance with distinction. After her graduation, she moved to Vienna to continue her studies with Prof. Anna Kandinskaya and also attended string quartet classes with Prof. Peter Matzka (Leader of RSO Radio-Simphonieorchester Wien) and Prof. Peter Schuhmayer (Artis-Quartett Wien).
Maria Fiore has attended masterclasses with Federico Agostini, Cristiano Rossi, Itzhak Rashkovsky, Arman Trio, Sitkovetsky Trio, Peter Manning, Natalia Lomeiko and Boris Brovtsyn, among others. In summer 2013 she participated at Aurora Chamber Music Festival in Trollhattan (Sweden), where she attended a solo masterclass with Prof. Gordan Nikolitich. She performed in various festivals both as soloist and orchestral member, including London Handel Festival, Greenwich Early Music Festival, Music Nation, London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, Hollywood in Vienna Film Festival and Taormina Arte Festival (Italy), recording for national Italian radios, BBC Radio 3 and ORF Austrian Radio and Television. For the Greenwich Early Music Festival 2012, she led Trinity Laban Chamber Orchestra for a live recording on BBC Radio 3. Moreover, during the same year, she played as co-leader alongside Philharmonia members for the St John’s Smith Square Autumn Festival.
She has performed in the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme and with the Nationaal Jeugd Orkest Holland, Wiener Jeunesse Orchestra, Festival Junger Kunstler Bayreuth, Orchestra Nazionale dei Conservatori Italiani and Arena di Verone Orchestra.
Maria Fiore has been cooperating with various orchestras in Italy (Orchestra da Camera del Friuli Venezia Giulia, Orchestra Accademia del Concerto di Vicenza, Orchestra Alpe Adria) in London (Orion Symphony Orchestra, Impact Opera, Orchestra Europa, London Arte Chamber Orchestra) and in Vienna (Max Steiner Orchestra, Les Orpheistes Orchestra, Valsassina Ensemble).
Outside of her orchestral work, Maria Fiore enjoys cooking and mountain hiking. Other hobbies include languages; aside from English, she speaks German, French and recently added Russian as a fourth foreign language.
If you weren’t a musician what would you be?
I would have liked to be an interior designer. I like to decorate environments, using my imagination but also searching for objects from different parts of the world. I like the idea of creating something which can combine both the personal touch of the artist/creator with the personality and taste of the user. I think that a warm and welcoming home – it doesn’t matter how big or how small – is like a piece of music: it is the refuge from the troubles of everyday life and it is the reflection of who you are.
