Biography

Born in Totana, Spain, Pedro started to play the flute at the age of eight. After graduating from Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Aragon with Jaime Martin, Pedro moved to London to study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire with Anna Noakes. Pedro then attended the Royal College of Music, where he completed his Artist Diploma under the tutelage of Gareth Davies and Katie Bedford.

Pedro then attended the Royal College of Music, where he completed his Artist Diploma under the tutelage of Gareth Davies and Katie Bedford. 

Supported by the Tillett Trust, Pedro has regularly attended the Netherlands Flute Academy and during his career has twice been awarded the Ibercaja Prize, the Spanish competition for young musicians. As a passionate chamber musician, Pedro regularly plays with various formations, including woodwind quintets and a flute, viola and harp trio. 

Pedro is regularly invited to collaborate with orchestras across Europe and has been a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Spain, the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Neue Musik de Bolzano and Camerata Aragón. 

Recent highlights for Pedro have been a performance of Frank Martin’s Ballade at Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, a recital at St Martin-in-the-Fields in London and a recording of trios by Bax and Debussy with Trío Vasnier for the National Radio of Spain.

What do you love about classical music?
I really love that we can express feelings without employing words. Beautiful.

What’s on your playlist right now?
Let’s see…U2, Muse, Guns & Roses, a bit of Paco de Lucía, a couple of flute masterclasses and lots of orchestral recordings.

Which three people, living or dead, would you most like to have dinner with?
Sherlock Holmes – he would have to teach me how to solve his cases!
Claudio Abbado – he taught us the most simple and important lesson in music and life: Listen.
Ferran Adriá – of course, he has 3 stars in the Michelin Guide!
