Biography

I grew up listening to my grandfather singing Jotas, traditional folk songs from Aragón, my region in northern Spain, and soon started to sing myself at the age of five. One year later, I began playing violin in the conservatoire, where I studied until I was 17 years old. A lover of languages and music, I was torn between studying a translation degree and music, but soon realized what I felt playing music didn’t compare to anything else and that I wanted to do that for the rest of my life. I entered the prestigious Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Aragón and completed my undergraduate degree.

Looking to explore new places and cultures, I moved to London, where I completed a masters with Michael Bochmann and a postgraduate artist diploma with John Crawford at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. During that time, I was generously supported by the Margaret Harris and the Trinity College Scholarships, and played a violin by Joannes Franciscus Pressenda (Turín 1847), donated by Trinity College of Music Trust.

I have enjoyed orchestral experience, performing alongside section leaders of the BBC Concert Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, and being part of both youth and professional orchestras, including Euskal Herrico Gazte Orkestra and Orquesta del Reino de Aragón.

I am very passionate about chamber music and regularly perform with different groups around the UK and Spain. I led the string quartet Isbilia Quartet from 2015 to 2017, performing in prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall, St Martin-in-the-Fields and Kings Place. We achieved a place on the Richard Carne Trust Mentorship Programme and won the John Thompson String Ensemble Prize, the John Barbirolli String Quartet Competition 2016 and finally the CAVATINA Intercollegiate Chamber Music Competition 2016. That moment was particularly special to me and I felt extremely lucky to be a musician.

I also have a special interest in early music and have led two opera productions under the baton of Nicolas Kraemer. I have received advice from Pavlo Beznosiuk, Adrian Butterfield and currently study Baroque violin with Walter Reiter. My interpretation of Leclair’s Sonata for 2 Violins Op. 3 No. 3 with my duo partner Kieran Burling won us the Trinity Laban Historical Performance Competition 2015.

I am a strong believer in the potential for music to inspire and bring hope so I have been playing with the Orquestre Solidaire Resonnance, whose aim is to share music within places where people cannot usually access it, like children’s hospitals, prisons, health centres and old people’s homes. In my free time I love reading, swimming and travelling. I love going on cycling holidays to France and I recently completed Hampton Triathlon.
