Artist Development: Leadership

To survive, classical music urgently need inspiring young role-models.

By virtue of their youthful vitality, Southbak Sinfonia players are the perfect fit. Across the year they connect with a huge range of young people, giving them a palpable sense of the rewards that come from working hard and following your dreams.

Fellowship musicians learn the ropes themselves from the most inventive practitioners, putting their skills to work in projects that engage with young people of an array of ages and musical abilities. Our players are empowered to lead education projects and devise creative content that sparks imaginations.

It's thrilling in such initiatives to witness our players passing on all they have learned themselves from professionals, while acting as role-models to whom young people can directly relate.

As part of the fellowship, all musicians undertake a DBS check and participate in specialist safeguarding and child protection training.

Family Concerts

Who better to lead an adventure into classical music than those performing it? Our Family Concerts are presented and curated by the orchestra themselves, aided by big-screen projections and theatrical lighting.
