Simon Over launches the new Southbank Sinfonia Fellowship year with Mendelssohn’s ‘Scottish’ symphony – an atmospheric musical portrait of the rolling Scottish landscape.
From the grand first movement to the energetic second and sentimental third, which gives way to an energetic finale, this work was chosen by musicians from the 2023/24 Fellowship who described it as a ‘masterpiece’ with its ‘deep sonorities and emotions’.
