Gavin Bryars double bass

Throughout the night, we join the Academy of St Martin in the Fields to bring to life a new version of Gavin Bryars’ iconic work Jesus’ Blood Never Failed Me Yet, a piece centred upon an unknown homeless man’s vocal refrain. Professional musicians - including the Academy, Gavin Bryars and his ensemble and Southbank Sinfonia - perform alongside people with experience of homelessness, throughout the night (8.00pm – 8.00am) in The Tanks at Tate Modern.

This new 12-hour version of the work, a long-time ambition of Bryars’, is the first time the piece is being performed by people who have experienced homelessness. The ensemble will evolve throughout the night, with different combinations of instruments exploring new sonic possibilities as the group shrinks and grows.

This event is free with no ticket required.
