Rush Hour #6: Rebellion
Antonio Vivaldi Concerto in D minor RV566
Jean-Philippe Rameau Suite from Naïs
Francesco Geminiani Concerto Grosso No.5
Thomas Arne Overture to Artaxerxes
Adrian Butterfield Director/ Violin

Rich, earthy tones ring out as - with the help of gut strings and authentic period bows - we're transported back 300 years to an era where musical rebellion was thick in the air.

Vivaldi’s unique instrument pairings inject visceral energy, while his Italian counterpart Geminiani pays tribute to the great Corelli with his brooding Concerto Grosso. Love affairs and murder of both mortals and gods enthral us in two dramatic tales from Rameau and Arne.
