Rush Hour #3: Vindication
Sergei Rachmaninov Symphony No.2
Students from the Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School

Great beauty can spring forth from our darkest moments. For Rachmaninov, it was a disastrous premiere of his first symphony that shattered his confidence and drove him deep into depression. Yet he would not be defeated. After a change of scenery and some help from a hypnotherapist, he began writing again, slaving away in secret on a new symphony. Once ready to face the world, Rachmaninov revealed a work that vindicated his talent and cleansed his troubled soul.

We join with the remarkable students of Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School – annually mentored by their Southbank Sinfonia counterparts – for a story of triumphant redemption.
