RUSH HOUR #6: BAROQUE
Corelli Concerto grosso Op.6 No.9
Bach Oboe and Violin Concerto in C minor BWV1060
Jean-Philippe Rameau Suite from Zoroastre
Julian Perkins director
Adrian Butterfield Director/ Violin

Donning gut strings and authentic period bows, our orchestral time-machine transports us back to an era of emotional exuberance, artistic grandeur and rebellious spirits pushing rules to their limits.

Purcell writes of battles between King Arthur’s Britons and the Saxons, while Corelli’s Concerto grosso provides snapshots of Italian fashion. From France, Rameau showcases the dances of the day, and Bach at his most lyrical pitches two contrasting personalities in conversation.
