PASSING THE BATON

Southbank Sinfonia players are privileged to learn from some of the best artists and orchestras in the world. In turn, they pass on their skills and passion for music to the next generation through a series of informal performances, workshops, side-by-side and ‘buddy’ concerts.

Each year, SbS leads workshops with primary schools near its Waterloo home, and with pupils of Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School. Outside London, SbS has regular projects with communities in Suffolk, Marlborough and County Durham.

Future plans include a project in York which culminates in a performance at the National Railway Museum, and a community opera about Florence Nightingale with schools from the London boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark.
