About us

Founded in 2002, Southbank Sinfonia (SbS) is an orchestra of young professionals now established as Britain’s leading orchestral academy.

Every year a new orchestra of 32 young music conservatoire graduates, each supported by bursary, is selected for a full-time programme of public performance and professional development. The unrivalled range of repertoire and activity covered in the programme provides a springboard for the players into a fast-changing music profession.

SbS seeks to develop players who are adaptable, open-minded, confident in a wide range of musical styles, and who have the desire to communicate their passion for music to audiences, young people and the next generation of musicians.

For audiences and supporters, SbS embodies youthful, enthusiastic and vibrant performances, and an organisation that is committed to the development of young talent and willing to take risks in its artistic projects.
